Fractals have occurred in nature since the beginning of time. A fern leaf, a snow flake, a lightning bolt, broccoli and pineapples are all examples of natural fractals. As far back as the 17th century, the mathematics behind fractals were being discovered. However, it was not until the 1960's that Benoit Mandelbrot was able to discover the true potential behind fractals. In 1975 with the aid of computers Mandelbrot was able to illustrate the beauty behind the math. This became the foundation of fractal art.
Since then, with the advent of more powerful computers, fractal art has gone from just representing numbers to a pure art form. It is capable of expressing and evoking strong emotion. The artwork of Stan Ragets encompasses all of this and more. It's my sincere hope that you'll enjoy your visit and find that unique piece of art for your space.
